FridgeDex App – Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 9 July 2025

1. Scope

This policy explains how the FridgeDex iOS/iPadOS app (“the App”) collects, uses, stores and protects information when you use it on an Apple device. It applies only to this App, not to any third-party websites or services.

2. Data We Collect

Unless we obtain your additional consent, all data below is not linked to your identity and is used only for the stated purposes.

3. Purpose of Data Use

Core functionality – inventory management, expiry reminders, family sharing.
Product analytics & personalisation – improve features and tailor tips based on anonymised usage.
Security & protection – detect abnormal behaviour, prevent attacks, ensure stability.

4. Data Processing & Sharing

Local-first storage – food data, photos and scans stay on your device or iCloud (if you enable “iCloud Sync”).
Third-party services
- Apple iCloud – cross-device access when sync is on.
- Firebase Crashlytics & Firebase Analytics – crash logs and anonymised events (hashed device ID only, no personal identity).
Legal disclosure – data is shared only when required by law or with your explicit consent.
No selling – we do not sell or rent any data that could identify you.

5. Retention Period

User content – deleted immediately when you remove it or reset the app.
Usage & diagnostic data – kept up to 24 months for historical analysis, then anonymised or erased.

6. Your Rights

Via the in-app settings or by contacting us you may:

Access the data we hold about you.
Correct / Delete inaccurate or unwanted data.
Withdraw consent – turn off iCloud sync or analytics to stop related collection.
Data portability – receive an exportable copy (GDPR Art. 20).

7. Data Security

We use AES-256 end-to-end encryption (for iCloud sync), TLS in transit and a least-privilege model with access auditing to reduce unauthorised-access risk.

8. Children’s Privacy

The App is for a general audience and not intended for children under 13. If we learn we have collected such personal data, we delete it immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes we will notify you prominently in the App and update the effective date. Where required, we will seek your consent at least 7 days in advance.

11. AI Feature Disclaimer

The AI recognition feature in the App is provided to assist users in quickly logging food items. However, recognition results may be erroneous or inaccurate due to factors like lighting, angle, image quality, or the food's appearance. Information provided by this feature (including but not limited to item names or suggested dates) is for reference only and should not be the sole basis for judgment. Before consuming any food, you must personally verify its freshness and safety. The developer assumes no liability for any health issues, financial losses, or other damages resulting from reliance on the AI feature. All risks are assumed by the user.

12. Intellectual Property & Ownership

All rights, title, and interest in and to the App—including but not limited to its source code, design, user interface, logos, trademarks, and any accompanying documentation—are and shall remain the exclusive property of Jiidea Studio or its licensors. You receive only a limited, revocable licence to install and use the App in accordance with this Policy and any applicable Terms of Service; no other rights are transferred or granted.

Using FridgeDex signifies your acceptance of this Privacy Policy. If you disagree, please stop using and delete the App.
